Why Is World Health Day 2023 Important?

Amish Patel - April 6, 2023 - 0 comments

There is nothing more precious than our health, it gives us the opportunity to live a long and happy life. The gift of good health and proper health care is something we should not take for granted. So, it makes perfect sense to dedicate one day each year to acknowledge the importance of health on a global scale.

World Health Day is a global health awareness day that’s celebrated worldwide every year on April 7th. The event was founded by the World Health Organization (WHO) and also includes the participation of other similar organisations. The WHO works worldwide doing remarkable work to serve vulnerable populations and keep the world safe through public health education.

The purpose of this day is to call attention on a global level to important international health issues that affect us all. The theme for this year is ‘Health for All’ – a theme that is at the very heart of the WHOs mission.

Celebrating WHOs 75th Anniversary

This year is particularly special because it marks the 75th anniversary of the World Health Organisation. World Health Day was inaugurated on April 7th because it is the date on which WHO was founded – April 7, 1948.

It’s an opportunity to look back at public health successes that have improved the quality of life for millions of people around the world during the last seven decades.

World Health Day Benefits

World Health Day is meant to inspire action on a global scale with awareness activities and media coverage in countries across the globe.

It’s a chance to learn something new.

WHO picks each year’s theme based on persistent public health issues and dedicates this day to workshops, conferences, and activities about the subject.

World Health Day is one of WHO’s eight official global health campaigns that bring attention to and educate the public about important health issues that concern and affect all of us. Some other campaigns are World Tuberculosis Day, World Malaria Day, and World Mental Health Day.

It brings us together.

World Health Day can also be an important day to think and talk about your own health. Awareness can help eliminate the stigma associated with certain illnesses and lead to more people seeking treatment and support.
